REPUBLIC DAY PARADE-2005
Republic Day Parade, 2005 shall start on 26th January, 2005 at 10.00 A.M. from Vijay Chowk to Red fort Ground. However other functions relating to Republic Day celebrations shall start at 9.00AM on Raj Path and uninterrupted movement of Parede along the route, Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements.
ROUTE OF THE PARADE
VIJAY CHOWK - RAJPATH - INDIA GATE - TILAK MARG - W POINT - BAHADUR SHAH ZAFAR MARG - A POINT -BAHADUR SHAH JAFAR MARG- SUBHASH MARG - REDFORT CHOWK AND REACH RED FORT GROUND.
PARKING LABEL
Invitation cards/tickets have been issued for the invitees and other spectators. People are requested to acquaint themselves with the location of their seating enclosures and the parking lots.
Enclosures Nos.1 to 17 are located on the Southern side of the Rajpath, while enclosure Nos. 18 to 35 are located on the Northern side of Rajpath.
The Triangular labels are meant for parking lots 1 to 5 situated on South of Rajpath behind the Water Channel. Similarly parking labels 6 to 10 rectangular are meant for parking lots on Northern side of Rajpath behind Water Channel.
Invitees/tickets holders are requested to acquaint themselves with the arrival and dispersal plan of their parking lots.
PROHIBITED AREA
Area bounded by "DALHOUSIE ROAD-TYAGRAJ MARG-K.KAMRAJ MARG-MAULANA AZAD ROAD-AKBAR ROAD-'C' HEXAGON-ASHOKA ROAD-DR.RAJENDRA PRASAD ROAD-RED CROSS ROAD-I.A. KHAN ROAD-CHURCH ROAD" will be prohibited Area.
This area will be restricted. Vehicles will not be allowed to ply on Rajpath after 1800 hours on 25th January,2005 till the closure of function on 26th January,2005.
After 0845 hours on 26th January, movement across Rajpath on Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road & 'C' Hexagon will be closed for all categories of vehicles.
CONTROLLED AREA
Area bounded by KAUTILYA MARG-KAMAL ATATURK MARG-AURANGZEB ROAD-'Q' POINT-HUMAYUN ROAD-SUBRAMANIAM BHARATI MARG-MATHURA ROAD-BHAGWAN DASS ROAD- FEROZ SHAH ROAD-R/A WINDSOR PALACE-ASHOKA ROAD-BABA KHARAK SINGH MARG-MOTHER TERESSA CRESCENT AND SARDAR PATEL MARG upto KAUTILYA MARG WILL BE A CONTROLLED AREA.
Only labelled vehicles of the invitees and un-labelled vehicles of bonafide residents of this area shall be permitted to enter upto the conclusion of the Parade i.e. 12.30 P.M. They are requested to follow the routes & instructions to reach the parking lots.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
No traffic shall be permitted on the route of the Parade from 4.00 A.M. till the conclusion of the parade i.e. 1300 hours at Red Fort on 26.1.2005. The Cross traffic on route of the Parade shall remain closed depending upon the progressive movement of the Parade. Motorists are advised to avoid these roads from morning till 1300 hours of they should take available alternative roads.
NORTH SOUTH CORRIDOR
In case journey is unavoidable, following corridors are available for North-South travels.
Motorists are requested to take Ring Road Ashram Chowk-Sarai Kale Khan-I.P.Flyover and Raj Ghat.
Lajpat Rai Marg-Mathura Road-Bhairon Road-Ring Road for onward journey.
Aurobindo Road-T/R-Lodhi Road to join Lajpat Rai Marg and proceed towards Mathura Road or from Aurobindo Chowk T/L-Safdarjung Road-Kamal Ataturk Marg-Kautilya Marg-Sardar Patel Marg-Mother Teressa Crescent-RML R/A-Baba Kharak SIngh Marg for onward journey.
Motorists coming on Africa Avenue,Vinay Marg or on Shanti Path to take Panchsheel Marg-Simon Boliver Road-Upper Ridge Road-Park Street-Mandir Marg-Rani Jhansi Marg for onward journey.
Prithvi Raj Road-South end Road-Subramaniam Bharati Marg-Mathura Road for onward journey.
Motorists travelling from East to West or vice versa should take Ring Road and other such roads which do not cross the route of the Parade.
RAILWAY STATIONS, ISBTs AND HOSPITALS
Using these corridors and timings of movement of Parade, there would be no problem in reaching New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, ISBT,Kashmere Gate, R.M.L. and J.P.N.Hospitals.
BUS TERMINATING POINTS
Delhi Traffic Police made elaborate arrangements for the diversion/curtailment of City Transport and other buses around the venue of Republic Day Parade. The following are the bus terminating points which are nearest to their original destinations.
Velodrome Road, Ring Road/ISBT, Yamuna Bazar, Mori Gate, Vishwa Yuwak Kendra and R.K. Ashram Marg.
D.T.C. buses and other private buses should not ply on the roads leading to the route of the parade to avoid inconvenience and causing congestion on the roads. They should take alternative route for their destination.
All commercial vehicles (HTV/MMV &LGV) will not be allowed to enter and ply in the city from any of the borders from 11.00 PM on 25.1.2005 to 1.30 PM on 26.1.2005.
Motorists and road users are advised to avoid the roads leading to the route of the Parade during the periods mentioned above. They are however, requested to follow the suggested travel corridors for their own convenience and smoother facilitation of traffic.
