OFFICE OF THE JOINT COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

TRAFFIC DELHI

It has been decided to from Traffic Consultative Committees at the level of Traffic Circles, Traffic Ranges and for the whole of the Delhi. Idea for traffic Consultative Committees is to involve local participation on traffic matters. It is expected that if stakeholders like residents welfare associations, market associations, professional bodies, students, transporters associations and other stakeholders are involved in the Consultative Committee and efforts are made with public participation, this can result into overall improvement in traffic management in the city.

I am enclosing an application from which is also being uploaded on Delhi Traffic Police website. Traffic officers should approach RWAs, market associations and other professional bodies in their area to ascertain if any of their office bearers is interested in being member of these Traffic Consultative Committees. Public representatives like Municipal Councilors, Member of Legislative Assemblies can be ex- officio member of these Committees.

Once circle level Traffic Consultative Committees are formed, we can pick-up public spirited representative at the range level apart from having some professionals who can be directly part of Range Level Committees.  Once these two Consultative Committees are formed, we can pick up certain people at the level of Delhi Traffic Consultative Committees.

It may be ensured that offices of Circle Inspectors, ACsP/Traffic District and DCsP/Traffic  Ranges should have enough copies of application form for free distribution.  Once application forms are collected, it can be sent to Circle Officers for background verification through local police stations of the applicants. Anybody with adverse police records should not be taken on Traffic Consultative Committee at any level.  Completed forms, after police verification can be sent to DCsP/Traffic Ranges for finalizing membership by DCP/Traffic of the Range on the recommendations of Traffic Inspectors and ACsP/Traffic.

Let the process of formation of Traffic Consultative Committees be completed by 31st march, 2012.
